Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s planned exhibition bout with Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis, scheduled for June 27 in Athens, has been officially canceled. The cancellation comes just two days before the event was set to take place, following an emergency legal filing from events company CSI Sports.
The fight was halted due to a pending lawsuit and injunction request filed by CSI in the Southern District of New York.

Why Was Mayweather's Fight Canceled?
The news of the fight's cancellation was abrupt and surprising. Just yesterday, Mayweather had posted a video on his social media saying he was on his way to Greece and that the fight would go on. He has since deleted the video, though Zambidis has kept the post up on his Instagram:
Mayweather’s attorney, Melissa Glass, confirmed the cancellation in a letter to the court obtained by ESPN, stating the legal action from CSI Sports had effectively stopped all promotion and ticket sales.
“Because Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece as planned on Saturday evening,” Glass wrote in her letter to Judge Vernon Broderick.
She further explained, "Plaintiffs' commencement of this action and filing of the Motion, as well as their legal threats domestically and in Greece, have effectively stopped any promotion or distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales..”
Dispute Mayweather’s Promoter Explained
The dispute stems from a contract CSI signed with Mayweather for exclusive rights to promote a planned exhibition against Mike Tyson and a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

CSI claims it paid Mayweather and his representative, Frist Apex Ventures, advances totaling at least $4.65 million for those bouts.
The company sued Mayweather for breach of contract after he announced the Zambidis exhibition in March, alleging it violated their exclusivity agreement.

CSI attorney Judd Burnstein requested that the court issue a temporary restraining order to prevent Mayweather from signing any other bout before fulfilling his obligations to CSI.
Per the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the financial stakes involved in the canceled Zambidis event are substantial, with promoter Keane Anis of Front Row reporting they committed around $7 million to the production. Court filings reveal Front Row had already paid Mayweather $3 million, and he was projected to earn at least $10 million from the fight total.
What is Next for Mayweather?
Mayweather’s legal team has now submitted a notice of termination to CSI, indicating the fighter is seeking to end their business relationship entirely.
Despite the cancellation, Mayweather’s attorney noted that the Zambidis bout could potentially be rescheduled depending on the court's final ruling.

Meanwhile, Zambidis himself took to social media following the cancellation, confirming the fight would be moved to a later date in a shared post with an Instagram account promoting the event:
The ongoing legal proceedings also cast uncertainty over the proposed Tyson exhibition, now reportedly targeted for September, and the Pacquiao rematch, potentially slated for early 2027.
