Florida running back Jadan Baugh (13) celebrates with a Heisman pose.

Jadan Baugh delivered a Heisman-like performance and a defiant message after No. 21 Florida overwhelmed No. 4 Ole Miss 52-28 on Saturday, moving into the top 10 of the AP poll.

Baugh rushed 29 times for 142 yards and three touchdowns as Florida improved to 4-0. Speaking on College Sports Radio on SiriusXM afterward, the running back revealed his teammates encouraged him to hit the Heisman pose celebrating his first touchdown.

“I’ve been sending a message all year, and not just me, the whole team,” Baugh said. “They even tell me ‘you better hit it.’ I sometimes, (I’m) trying to be chill. You know, just come out there and just have a great time, and then do something I love. But my teammates won’t let me. They tell me all the time, ‘You better hit it.’”

Baugh’s production has strengthened the Heisman conversation around him during the first four games of the season. The running back has 83 carries for 600 yards and leads the FBS with 11 rushing touchdowns while averaging 7.2 yards per carry.

Baugh also became the third Gator to rush for 100 yards in five straight games, joining Emmitt Smith and Fred Taylor.

“That means everything to me, just having my name up there with those guys,” Baugh said. “They did so much when they were here. And just being able to follow their footsteps and excel, that just means so much to me.”
