The Indiana Pacers are on the road Wednesday night as they travel to take on the New Orleans Pelicans in their 2026-27 NBA season opener.

Indiana enters the new season looking to bounce back after a difficult season last year, which saw the Pacers finish 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 19-63 record while playing without Tyrese Haliburton the entire season.

The Pacers will try to start the season with a victory on the road as they face off against the Pelicans in an interconference matchup.

New Orleans enters the season looking to turn the franchise around after missing the playoffs for the second straight season last year as they finished 11th in the Western Conference with a 26-56 record.

While both teams are looking to pick up a victory in Wednesday night’s matchup, one may be without multiple key players due to injuries.

The Pacers have three players listed on their injury report, though Haliburton is not one of them.

Of course, Haliburton missed all of last season while recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered in the 2025 NBA Finals, but he is off the injury report and will play Wednesday.

Indiana has ruled out Aaron Nesmith due to a left hamstring strain that caused him to miss the last two preseason games.

With Nesmith sidelined, Kelly Oubre Jr., Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard could all be in line for increased roles.

The Pacers have also ruled out T.J. McConnell due to a right hamstring strain while Johnny Furphy is out as he continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered last season.
