Canada will play its World Cup opener today against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Toronto Stadium in Toronto, Canada.
Canada will look to get their first ever World Cup win, and they have a great opportunity to pull it off as they have the home advantage. Canada's World Cup squad includes many top players who play in Europe, and the big name many recognize is Alphonso Davies.
Davies plays for Bayern Munich as a left back and is seen as the key figure for Canada over the past few years. A few weeks ago, Davies suffered an injury that concerned fans as he was close to missing out on the World Cup.
However, Canada's head coach Jesse Marsch decided to bring Davies to the Canada World Cup roster. Davies has not played for a month, and his last appearance was in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal against PSG on May 6, 2026.
Davies returned to team training a day before Canada's World Cup opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which gives fans hope that he could get minutes.

Canada Head Coach on Alphonso Davies
Canada's head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed in a press conference that Alphonso Davies will not play against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Marsch confirms that Davies is healing very quickly, but the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina is too soon for the left back to return.
Marsch said, "We did an MRI with him yesterday. It showed very positive signs that he's healing incredibly well, almost completely... He will not be available for tomorrow, but I think that he's showing a real good ability to recover from muscle injuries..."
Following Canada's match against Bosnia, they will host Qatar on June 18, 2026, at BC Place in Vancouver, where fans hope that Davies will be available to get minutes.
