Caitlin Clark led Team USA to a dominant 94-61 win over China in its first group-stage game in the FIBA World Cup. The Indiana Fever star finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists, all while not committing a single turnover.
The WNBA star made history in the process, as she became the first player in Women’s World Cup history to record at least 10 assists without a turnover. She also became the first Team USA player since Dawn Staley in 1998 to record 10 or more dimes in a World Cup game.
With her performance, FIBA awarded her the Player of the Game honor.

What stood out from FIBA’s recognition of Clark, however, was the photo and caption posted along with it.
“Caitlin Clark posing together with a better player than herself,” FIBA wrote, along with a photo showing Clark holding the Player of the Game trophy alone, indicating that no player was better than Clark.
Fans absolutely loved FIBA’s post, with many commending the organization for giving Clark the credit she deserved.
“Hey Admin you have my undivided engagement if you keep posting like this!” a fan wrote. Another supporter said, “This is so refreshing to hear her finally getting respect! Love it!!!”
“I’m honestly not used to all this positive attention towards CC… it’s not something we’ve been accustomed to very much in the WNBA. This is great, FIBA!!!” a social media user added.
“Hell yeah FIBA tellem!” a poster exclaimed. A fifth follower stated, “I’m glad you guys are starting to get it. Maybe the W will follow suit.”
“Well deserved CC, you played a fantastic game!” a fan wrote in praise of Clark.
