Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham appreciates the support from Toronto Tempo fans.
On Tuesday, the Fever continued their current five-game road trip, as they visited the Tempo inside Scotiabank Arena.
For the first time ever, Indiana played in Canada, and Cunningham noted in her post-game interview that it was an incredible experience.
“I want to shout out the Tempo crowd and the city,” Cunningham said. “I think we’ve had so much fun. It’s my first time being in Canada. It’s a lot of our first times being in Canada, but the crowd was absolutely amazing.”
Cunningham received boos from Toronto fans during the game. This has been the case for the eight-year veteran since her controversial comments about transgender athletes. Nevertheless, Cunningham appreciated the gesture, noting that the fans’ behavior exhibits how supportive they are of their team.
“I think that’s what sports is all about,” Cunningham continued. “You’re going to get boos, you’re going to get cheers, but just the fact that they’re so passionate, they’re loud and they’re putting on for the city, I think it’s amazing. So shout out to you guys for coming out and supporting.”

The former Missouri standout contributed 13 points, two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes off the bench to help Indiana secure the 101-95 win.
This is Cunningham’s first double-digit production since Aug. 11, when she had 12 points against the New York Liberty.
Indiana secured their fifth straight win and its 24th overall to climb to the third spot in the standings.
Next up for the Fever is a road game against the Dallas Wings on Thursday at American Airlines Center.
