Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell is known for being a silent assassin, but she nearly lost her composure during this Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Tempo.
Mitchell, who is averaging 24.2 points per game this season, had an issue with the way Tempo star Marina Mabrey was guarding her. She felt like the veteran guard was crossing the line and getting away with a few too many cheap shots.
Instead of taking the high road like she normally does, Mitchell put Mabrey in her place and let her know she wasn’t having any of her nonsense. After they had a brief physical altercation, they were hit with double technicals.
As you’d imagine, most WNBA fans sided with Mitchell in this argument.

“Imagine getting on Kelsey Mitchell’s nerves of all people,” one fan said.
“Kelsey Mitchell is the coolest baller out there. You never saw her angry. Mabrey has always been an irritant and she’s always extra when she’s facing Caitlin Clark and Fever,” a second fan commented. “To see Kelsey Mitchell angry, she should be super ashamed of herself.”
“You know Marina was truly bothering her cause Kelsey never gets mad,” another fan said.
“I’m so proud of Kelsey here. There’s no reason for that nonsense,” another fan added.
Marina Mabrey has history with the Indiana Fever.
During the 2025 season, Mabrey was hit with a technical foul for shoving Caitlin Clark to the floor. At that time, she was a member of the Connecticut Sun.
Mabrey later admit that she regret putting her hands on the former No. 1 pick from Iowa.
“I know when I went too far with things. It’s like shameful. It’s like, ‘Really, Marina? That was ridiculous.’ That was obvious that my emotions of us losing and losing and losing, and then she’s low-key punking our team on top of it,” Mabrey said. “That was too far. That was too much.”
Who knows? Maybe we’ll get a similar admission from Mabrey during this Tuesday’s postgame press conference.
