The New York Jets added another first-round weapon in wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. during the 2026 NFL Draft after already selecting tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
Cooper brings a compact, physical receiving profile with enough speed to threaten vertically and the toughness to win through contact. He played heavily from the slot at Indiana but has experience outside, giving an offense some alignment flexibility. His best traits show after the catch, where balance, strength, and vision help Cooper slip tackles and turn short throws into useful gains. The concerns come with route polish and separation consistency.
2026 Omar Cooper Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook
Cooper's early role may lean toward slot work with quick-hitting targets and designed touches to put him in space. This profile can make something out of nothing and provide fantasy utility on a handful of utilizations. The Jets have a veteran quarterback in Geno Smith who can distribute the ball adequately enough and allows the coaching staff to maximize Cooper's traits. His Year 1 fantasy football value is roughly in the fringe WR4/No. 5 range, but it's unlikely the rookie will be a regular fantasy contributor without a few breaks going his way.
