The NBA never sleeps.
Just when fantasy managers thought they had adjusted to the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster, another bombshell landed a couple weeks later, as Kawhi Leonard was traded back to the Raptors.
It's a full-circle moment for Leonard, who delivered Toronto its first NBA championship in 2019 before leaving for the Clippers later that summer.
It's also a trade with plenty of fantasy implications.
Some players suddenly look more appealing. Others may have become a little tougher to trust.
Here are the biggest winners and losers.
Winner: Kawhi Leonard
This is probably the cleanest winner of the bunch.
Toronto didn't trade all those assets to bring Leonard home and make him the third option. When healthy, he'll be the focal point of the offense.
That's always been the tricky part with Kawhi. It usually isn't production. It's availability.
I'd still expect efficient scoring, strong percentages, rebounds, steals and solid assist numbers whenever he's on the floor.
The risk hasn't changed. The opportunity may have improved.
Winner: Scottie Barnes

At first glance, you might think Barnes loses touches.
Maybe he does. But he also gets something he hasn't consistently had since entering the league: A superstar defenses actually fear.
Barnes won't face nearly as many loaded defenses with Leonard commanding attention.
That could make life easier offensively while allowing Barnes to settle into a more natural all-around role instead of trying to carry every possession.
Sometimes sharing the ball actually creates better fantasy basketball.
Loser: Brandon Ingram

Ingram now heads to a Clippers team that's beginning a new era.
The good news? There should be plenty of shots available.
The concern? Nobody really knows what that offense will look like yet.
His raw numbers may stay similar, but efficiency could take a hit if defenses key on him as the primary scorer.
Fantasy managers shouldn't panic. I'd just lower expectations a bit until we see how everything fits.
Winner: Gradey Dick

Opportunity matters.
The Clippers clearly believe in Gradey Dick enough to make him part of a blockbuster return. If his minutes climb, fantasy managers should pay attention.
He's always had the shooting ability. Now he'll have a chance to prove he can handle a larger role.
He's someone I'll be watching closely during training camp.
This One Can Change Your Perspective
Big trades don't just change franchises. They change fantasy basketball.
Leonard returns to the city where he became a champion. Barnes gets an elite running mate. Ingram becomes the centerpiece of a Clippers reset. And Dick suddenly has a much larger opportunity than he did a few weeks ago.
The fantasy rankings won't change overnight. But don't be surprised if your draft board looks a little different because of this trade.
Questions About Kawhi Leonard, Answered
Who did the Raptors get in the Kawhi Leonard trade?
The Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard, bringing him back to the franchise where he helped deliver the 2019 NBA championship. His return gives Toronto another superstar presence and immediately changes the fantasy outlook for several players on the roster.
Who benefits most in fantasy basketball from Kawhi Leonard leaving the Clippers?
Scottie Barnes stands to benefit significantly from Leonard's arrival in Toronto because opposing defenses will have another elite scorer to account for. Kawhi Leonard also appears positioned for a featured offensive role when healthy, creating strong fantasy upside despite the injury risk.
Is Kawhi Leonard still a fantasy injury risk in 2026-27?
Yes. Leonard's fantasy outlook continues to be tied to his health. His production has rarely been the concern, but his availability remains the biggest question, making him a high-upside player who still carries meaningful risk for fantasy managers.
Which Raptors player loses the most fantasy value from the trade?
Scottie Barnes may see fewer touches, but the overall offensive environment around him should improve because defenses must also account for Leonard. The player most clearly facing uncertainty from the trade is Brandon Ingram, whose new role with the Clippers could affect his efficiency until the offense takes shape.
