With training camp set to begin next week, the Baltimore Ravens have decided to part ways with rookie quarterback Diego Pavia.

Pavia was a Heisman Trophy finalist during the 2025 season, completing 70.6% of his passes for 3,539 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also made quite an impact on the ground for Vanderbilt, rushing for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns on 167 carries.

Despite his success at Vanderbilt last fall, Pavia went undrafted this past April. The 2025 SEC Offensive Player of the Year later agreed to a contract with the Ravens.

"[Pavia has] had some experiences that are learning experiences that he could learn from and be better from. I don't think anybody would dispute that," Ravens coach Jesse Minter said. "But when you talk to the people inside that building [at Vanderbilt] and what he's about as a player, he is showing up early every day and working really hard."

Unfortunately for Pavia, he won't have the opportunity to practice with the Ravens this summer. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network broke the news that Pavia has been waived.

Is his NFL dream already over?

So what's next for Pavia? Obviously, he'd love to land on another NFL roster as soon as possible. If there aren't any suitors, he may want to consider taking his talents to the CFL.

Two years ago, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers added Pavia to their negotiation list. Some people believe the CFL would be a good spot for him to develop his skills.

"The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have Diego Pavia on their negotiation list," Coty Wiles of TSN said. "Though the Bombers already have three other QBs, it’s worth mentioning Zach Collaros just hit the 6-game IL, as they were carrying four pivots before."

"The Winnipeg Blue Bombers hold his exclusive rights in the CFL.... just saying," another person wrote on X.

"No surprise that the Ravens waived Diego Pavia today," a social media user commented. "He was just used as a body in camp. CFL?"

Time will tell if Pavia can silence all his critics. For now though, he's taking a bunch of heat on social media.
