Fans Urge Indiana Fever To Move On From Stephanie White

Did the Stephanie White era for the Indiana Fever end with their Game 3 loss to the Las Vegas Aces?

White, the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year, has been leading the Fever since 2025. After leading Indiana to the WNBA semifinals last season, she had to settle for a first-round exit this year. Overall, she owns a 52-36 record over the past two seasons.

Even though White has been successful with the Fever, there are fans who believe she’s not the right coach to get this squad to the WNBA Finals. The main complaint is that she hasn’t maximized the team’s potential with Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.

Once the Aces-Fever series came to an end, Indiana fans aired out their complaints about White online.

“At least I can relish in the fact that this is KM last year in a Fever jersey and Stephanie White is probably gone,” one fan said.

“Stephanie White is gone,” a second fan declared.

“4 minutes left in an elimination game down by 7 and Stephanie White has Caitlin Clark on the bench. This has to be her last game as Coach,” a third fan commented.

“Stephanie White is a good coach who’s philosophy just straight up didn’t fit a team with both CC & Kelsey She’ll land on her feet and be hired somewhere next year,” another fan said.

It’s been a rough year for White.

Prior to Thursday night’s loss, White revealed that it’s been tough coaching the Fever this season due to all the criticism she receives online.

“There’s moments where it does get hard, and it does get heavy. Because it is ugly. I often say, ‘It’s not hard to not be a jerk.’ But maybe it is. Maybe it’s harder to be kind, especially in the world that we live in right now, where it seems that it’s okay to call people names. It’s okay to bully and berate and degrade. It’s the world that we’re living in right now,” White said. “For me, personally, I have my ups and downs. Just like I’m sure that many of these young people have their ups and downs. For me to talk about it and show them that they’re not alone, I think, is important. For me to just still try to be a voice of reason when there’s a lot of unreason out there—and that it doesn’t have to be this way. It doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way. But it is the reality that we’re living in right now, and mental health has to be a priority.”

Hopefully, Fever fans can express their concerns without crossing the line.
