ESPN's "College GameDay" could welcome U.S. President Donald Trump onto the set early in the 2026 season.
U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and Eric Schmitt, who are leading sponsors of the Protect College Sports Act , are "guaranteeing" that the bill - intended to regulate college athletics - will be signed in September. And, not only that, but it'll be signed live on air by President Trump on ESPN's college football pregame show.
"The Protecting College Sports Act continues to show great momentum. Sens Cruz and Schmitt have worked tirelessly with the support of nearly every conference in the country, HBCUs and the Olympic sports committee. It’s clear that this bill is the only way to save college sports and womens sports," the U.S. senators said in a statement.
"While we are disappointed that we could not get the unanimous consent agreement to finish this week, we locked in a guaranteed vote in September. With the strong support of President Trump, we look forward to him signing the bill on College GameDay in the fall."
That would be something, of course.
However, while the likes of Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit might be OK with it, some of "College GameDay"'s fans would not.
Some fans are threatening to never watch the college football pregame show again if President Trump appears on air.
Fans threaten College GameDay over President Trump report
"If ESPN’s college game day does that I will never watch that show again!" one fan wrote.
"I already stopped watching Gameday. I didn't need another reason never to watch again. College Sports needs saving largely because of the TV networks," one fan added.
"Would be a reason to never watch that show again," one fan added.
"What an dumb idea for ESPN," one fan added.
Former ESPN college football analyst Danny Kanell, meanwhile, seems to approve of the idea.
Will you be watching?
