USC linebacker Desman Stephens II became one of the most hated men in college football last night after a big hit on Oregon star QB Dante Moore sent the signal caller to the hospital. The Trojans have since suspended him but fans don’t believe it’s good enough.
“USC has suspended Desman Stephens II for Saturday’s game vs. Washington, the team announced,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday. “The USC LB was ejected after a late hit on Oregon QB Dante Moore.”
The hit occurred in the middle of the second quarter. Moore had escaped the pocket on a play and ran up the middle of the field for a first down. But as he leaned back to slide, USC linebacker Desman Stephens II went low and made direct contact with the middle of Moore’s face.
The impact left Moore completely motionless and he had to be carted off the field and loaded into an ambulance. He was later diagnosed with a concussion and is expected to return at some point this season.
Not good enough
For many football fans, a one-game suspension simply isn’t enough based on what Stephens did to Moore on Saturday. Many believe he needs to lose more games, perhaps the rest of the season or be banned from football entirely.
“Literally the least they could have done. The hit was dirty, the dance after made it even worse,” one user remarked.
“Big 10 has to step in. Would have been nice for USC to actually do the right thing but what can you really expect from that pathetic organization,” wrote another.
“Not enough. NCAA needs to come down and just suspend him for the year. He knew what he did and was laughing about it afterwards. That (expletive) should be unacceptable at every level,” a third wrote.

“One game is an absolute joke. POS should be out 4 games minimum.”
“He should sit out as long as Moore has to.”
“That’s not enough. He could have ended that young man’s life.”
Do you think the Big Ten or NCAA should come down harder on Stephens over his actions? Will they?
