Win or lose this afternoon, Texas defensive lineman Colin Simmons is going to get an earful from Steve Sarkisian in the locker room.
With Texas leading 10-3 in the second quarter, Simmons sacked Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon on third down to set up a punt. However, he gave the Volunteers a fresh set of downs after being penalized for an obscene celebration.
Simmons pretended to unzip his pants and urinate on the field at Neyland Stadium. That’s going to be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct every day of the week and twice on Saturdays.
Although that penalty didn’t lead to points for Tennessee, it definitely derailed some of Texas’ momentum. College football fans had no problem ripping Simmons for his behavior on the field.

“Remarkably dumb, crass penalty by a so-called leader Colin Simmons,” one fan declared. “Stupid.”
“His penalty for being a moron gave Tennessee a 1st down. ZERO CLASS,” a second fan wrote on X.
“That was the most immature unsportsmanlike penalties I’ve ever seen on Colin Simmons from Texas,” another fan said. “If I’m his coach, that guy isn’t seeing the field again for a long time.”
“Kick Colin Simmons off the team,” another fan commented.
Will Texas bench Colin Simmons?
Simmons has been great for the Longhorns over the past three seasons, racking up 95 tackles, 23 sacks and six forced fumbles.
That being said, Texas can’t afford for Simmons to make costly mistakes in a one-possession game on the road.
We’ll see if Simmons gets a chance to redeem himself in the second half.
