College basketball fans are missing the late, great Greg Gumbel on Sunday.
Gumbel, the iconic CBS Sports broadcaster, was known for his coverage of the NCAA Tournament. Gumbel was the voice of Selection Sunday and the studio host of CBS's pregame, halftime and postgame coverage. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 78 in 2024.
CBS has made former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson the studio host of its NCAA Tournament coverage. Burleson, who has also worked on CBS's morning show and its NFL studio shows, has received mixed reviews for his performance.
"Greg Gumbel is sorely missed. Nate Burleson ain’t it on these studio shows," college hoops analyst Brad Powers wrote.
Burleson, 44, appears to be very highly thought of within CBS's walls. However, he has plenty of critics online.
Some college hoops fans have been pushing for CBS to replace Burleson as its host of the NCAA Tournament moving forward.

Fans are tired of Burleson's performance during the 2026 NCAA Tournament on CBS.
"Imagine someone took something you loved and replaced it with a self impressed, corny version of it. That’s what happened when we lost Greg Gumbel and got stuck with Nate Burleson," one fan wrote.
"He’s terrible!!! I know Ernie Johnson was busy but put someone else in," one fan added.
"CBS has Nate Burleson doing the CBS Morning Show, NFL Sundays, the Nickelodeon football show, and now March Madness. What the heck is the fascination with Nate Burleson," one fan added.
"Whatever happened to Adam Zucker after Selection Sunday? He was too much of an adult so CBS had to make sure the toddler took over the playpen?" one fan added.
