The Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers meet Thursday, Sept. 24 at Lambeau Field, giving us a chance to compare two different virtual projections of the matchup.
First, Madden NFL 27 simulated the game from start to finish. Separately, an AI simulation projected the matchup using team performance, expected player usage, home field and injury availability.
The two simulations agree on the winner. They disagree significantly on how Atlanta gets there and how competitive the game will be.
Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video, with the Packers hosting at 1-1 after a Week 1 loss in Minnesota and a Week 2 win over the Jets. Atlanta has confirmed Michael Penix Jr. will start, which matters for both simulations since the AI model weighs injury availability directly.

The updated Madden simulation produces a dramatically closer game than the AI projection.
Madden 27: Packers 27, Falcons 24
AI: Packers 24, Falcons 13
The AI model produced its 24-13 representative score after 50,000 simulation runs and had Green Bay winning approximately 81% of the outcomes.
Madden also sends Green Bay home with the victory, but Atlanta stays within a field goal.
How the Madden 27 Simulation Played Out
The Madden result was driven much more by rushing than quarterback production.
Atlanta scored three touchdowns: one through the air and two on the ground. Green Bay didn’t record a passing touchdown at all, instead getting three rushing scores and two field goals.
Madden’s scoring output can be reconstructed directly from the final statistics:
Madden Scoring |

That created the 27-24 Green Bay final.

Jordan Love, GB |
18/24, 184 YDS, 0 TD, 1 INT |
21/31, 244 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT |
This is one of the largest differences between the simulations.
The AI projected considerably more volume for both quarterbacks, particularly Love. Madden instead gave Atlanta the more efficient quarterback performance.
Penix completed 83.3% of his passes in Madden and finished with a 131.2 passer rating. Love completed 75% but threw an interception and didn’t account for any of Green Bay’s three touchdowns.
The AI projection has the opposite offensive emphasis, with Love throwing for 244 yards and two touchdowns while Penix completes just 60% of his attempts.

Madden’s stat screen identifies Atlanta’s leading rusher only as “B. Robinson.” Because Atlanta has multiple Robinsons on the roster, the screenshot itself does not establish which Robinson received those 11 carries. The Madden result is therefore presented exactly as displayed rather than assigning the line to a specific player.

The biggest split between the simulations is Atlanta’s running game.
Madden generated a 113-yard, two-touchdown performance on only 11 carries from B. Robinson, including a 62-yard run.
The AI simulation expected a larger Atlanta rushing workload, but nothing approaching that level of explosiveness.
Green Bay also ran much better in Madden. Lloyd scored twice, while Love added 52 yards on only four attempts.

The screenshot captures all 18 of Love’s completions and all 184 of his passing yards.
For Atlanta, the visible receiving lines account for 11 catches and 154 yards. Penix finished with 15 completions for 199 yards, meaning another four catches for 45 yards belong to players below the portion of the stat screen shown.

Madden made Branch Atlanta’s leading receiver and gave him the Falcons’ only passing touchdown.
The AI model instead leaned more heavily toward London, the running backs and Kyle Pitts.
On Green Bay’s side, both models put Watson among the primary receiving threats, but Madden’s touchdowns came entirely from the ground game.
Defense: Madden 27 vs. AI
Madden’s Packers defense created significantly more pressure than the AI projection.

Green Bay recorded seven sacks in the Madden simulation:
- Javon Hargrave — 2
- Brian Sorrell — 2
- Lukas Van Ness — 1
- Devonte Wyatt — 1
- Brian Cisse — 1
Atlanta recorded one visible sack from Gervon Dexter Sr.
Love also threw one interception, although the supplied defensive screenshots do not show the player credited with the pick.

The original AI projection expected four Green Bay sacks.
Madden was considerably more aggressive, producing seven.
One roster caveat is also worth noting: the Madden simulation includes players such as A.J. Terrell Jr. and Jayden Reed. Madden roster availability does not necessarily mirror the final real-world injury designation, which is one reason the AI projection uses injury information separately.

2/2 FG, long 45; 1/1 XP |
Special teams proved important to Madden’s three-point final margin.
Smack was perfect and connected from 56 yards, while Folk missed one of his two field-goal attempts.
The AI projection had Folk making both attempts and Smack getting only one field-goal opportunity.

Atlanta punted three times compared with only one Green Bay punt.
That aligns with another major difference between the simulations: Madden created a much more efficient Atlanta offense than the AI model expected.

Madden gave Moore more kickoff-return opportunities while Atlanta primarily used Zaccheaus on kickoffs.
How the AI Simulation Played Out
The AI simulation remains unchanged.
It projected a slower and more controlled Green Bay win, with Love producing more through the air and Atlanta struggling to turn yardage into enough points.

The AI’s projected Falcons touchdown came through Penix and Pitts, while Green Bay’s passing game carried more of the offensive load than it did in Madden.
Madden and AI Agree on Green Bay — Not on the Type of Game
The revised Madden simulation changes the comparison considerably.
The first major difference is Atlanta’s offense. Madden has the Falcons scoring 24 points, rushing for a pair of touchdowns and producing a 113-yard rushing performance from B. Robinson.
The AI model holds Atlanta to 13.
The second difference is Jordan Love. The AI projection gives him 244 yards and two touchdown passes. Madden gives him only 184 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
The third is Green Bay’s pass rush. Madden produces seven sacks compared with four in the AI projection.
Yet the final conclusion remains identical.
Both simulations have Green Bay winning at Lambeau Field.
Madden 27 Prediction: Packers 27, Falcons 24
AI Prediction: Packers 24, Falcons 13
The disagreement isn’t over the winner. It’s over whether Atlanta can turn the game into the type of three-point fight Madden 27 produced.
