The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis following the start of an investigation into serious allegations against him from an incident 14 months ago.
According to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Lewis is facing sexual assault allegations stemming from an incident in Ann Arbor in December 2024 while he was a member of the University of Michigan coaching staff. An unnamed woman, through her attorney Truszkowski, has alleged that she and Lewis met through a dating app in July 2024 and met in person that December.
"The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed Friday to ESPN that it is currently investigating allegations of sexual assault against Lewis. Spokesperson Chris Page said the Ann Arbor PD was "just recently made aware" of the woman's allegations, which stem from a Dec. 5, 2024, incident while Lewis was on the Michigan football staff," Raimondi wrote.
"Lewis did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In a statement, Paul Corliss, a spokesperson for Michigan, called the allegations "deeply concerning."
"Karen Truszkowski, the woman's attorney, told ESPN that her client filed an incident report with the Ann Arbor PD and applied for a protective order against Lewis earlier this week."
During that in-person meeting in an Ann Arbor hotel, Lewis allegedly sexually assaulted and beat the woman. The woman alleges that she personally informed then-head coach Sherrone Moore - whom she knew personally - only to have her story rejected.
Moore's attorney released a statement to ESPN denying the allegations.
"Sherrone Moore did not fail to report misconduct, did not reward wrongdoing and did not harass anyone," attorney Ellen Michael said in a statement. "These claims are false."

LaTroy Lewis
Lewis played linebacker at the University of Tennessee from 2012 to 2016 and then spent several years in the NFL before going into coaching in 2020.
Lewis steadily climbed the ranks through a series of FBS jobs, becoming a special teams analyst for Wake Forest in 2022 before joining Michigan's staff in 2023 as a graduate assistant. After two years with the Wolverines, Lewis spent 2025 as the defensive line coach at Toledo.
Atlanta hired Lewis as their assistant defensive line coach on February 10. His time as an NFL coach thus ends after less than 20 days with the organization.
