Lewis Hamilton kept his impressive run going for Ferrari with the fastest lap in the second practice session at the Hungarian GP, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli had another poor day at the Hungaroring.

In Friday's second practice session, Hamilton set a best time of 1:18.729 on the soft compound tyre to secure a comfortable one-two finish for Ferrari. The team was certainly upbeat after the afternoon session, and the performance will surely help them gain confidence in the lead-up to qualifying.

Antonelli, meanwhile, was able to settle for 13th place, just over two seconds behind Hamilton's pace as Mercedes failed to get pace going around the tight and twisty Hungaroring circuit.

Leclerc finished 0.148 seconds behind Hamilton, while Lando Norris of McLaren was 0.499 seconds back of the leader.

George Russell finished in the top five for Mercedes, with Max Verstappen the fourth quickest for Red Bull.

Racing Bulls kept their impressive weekend going with Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson taking sixth and seventh places respectively, with Oscar Piastri eighth for McLaren. Nico Hülkenberg finished ninth for Audi, with Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad finishing the top 10.

Kimi Antonelli Ends Outside Top 10 Again

Championship leader Antonelli had another disappointing lap, finishing FP2 in 13th place 1.964 seconds behind Hamilton's Ferrari.

The Italian was beaten by teammate Russell, as well as Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Gabriel Bortoleto and some midfield runners, indicating that Mercedes still has some work to do before Saturday's qualifying session.

Sergio Perez was 20th for Cadillac and Franco Colapinto was 21st after finishing over 3.8 seconds back. Lance Stroll was unable to set a representative lap due to problems during the session and was last without a time.

Friday practice times don't always tell the tale, but Ferrari looks like the early favourite at the Hungaroring. With Hamilton's pace and Leclerc's performance, the Scuderia are in a good position to start qualifying, while Mercedes will be hoping Antonelli can bounce back from Friday's poor performance.
