Lando Norris claimed victory in a dramatic 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, beating Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli to take a crucial win in the championship battle. George Russell finished third and Lewis Hamilton was fourth for Ferrari.

The race was a wild affair at Zandvoort, with the weather and several retirements influencing the outcome. Norris had qualified in front of Russell and Antonelli.

Lando Norris Wins Dutch GP as Mercedes Takes Two Podium Spots

McLaren made significant setup changes after his third-place finish in Saturday’s Sprint, and Norris took advantage of them to win the pole. The victory is a significant one for the reigning champion as he tries to narrow the gap with Antonelli in the 2026 title race.

Antonelli’s second place finish was especially noteworthy. The Mercedes driver is still the leader of the championship, and he didn’t win, but he did take in a good number of points ahead of Hamilton and Russell.

Russell picked up another podium with his win on Saturday in the Sprint, adding to his impressive Dutch GP weekend. Hamilton’s fourth-place finish keeps Ferrari’s title bid alive.

The weather at Zandvoort had a significant impact on the race. The Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, crashed out early in his home race, ending a disappointing day. He suffered no injuries.

  • 4. Lewis Hamilton — Ferrari
  • 5. Charles Leclerc — Ferrari
  • 6. Oscar Piastri — McLaren
  • 7. Liam Lawson — Red Bull

It is a significant opportunity lost for Verstappen, who had won the last three Dutch Grands Prix at Zandvoort. His retirement also adds another twist to a championship season increasingly dominated by the Mercedes drivers.

The Dutch GP was also the last race of the current chapter of the F1 calendar at Zandvoort, so Norris’ win was a fitting end to the circuit’s time on the F1 grid.
