Former "College GameDay" analyst David Pollack is facing some backlash on social media this weekend due to his take on the WNBA.
Less than 24 hours ago, former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom announced that he's declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft. This stunt was most definitely his way of insulting the league for not denouncing transgender inclusion in women's sports.
“After careful consideration and reviewing the current eligibility guidelines, I’m officially declaring myself a WNBA prospect,” Kanter wrote. “If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required, then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA. My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion. Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027.”

Clearly, Pollack found Kanter's announcement to be quite amusing.
"Enes Kanter is now the WNBA's top prospect," Pollack wrote on X.
Well, it didn't take long for fans to rip Pollack for supporting Kanter.
"The fact you idiots think this is cool or has people laughing with you is exactly why people hate you and make fun of you," one person said in response to Pollack's post.
"This is stupid David. There has never even been one single trans woman in the history of the WNBA," a fan replied. "Why do people keep making an issue out of something that has never ever happened before?"
"You're a legend in my eyes man don't hype this up," another fan wrote.
This situation is getting out of control.
It turns out ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith also defended Kanter and his WNBA announcement.
"What Enes Kanter is pointing to is about competition," Smith said. "For someone to transition from male to female, and for folks to act like it would be okay for them to participate in the WNBA is ridiculous."
The Women's National Basketball Players Association, meanwhile, released a statement on Friday regarding diversity and inclusion.
"We embrace justice equity, diversity, and inclusion," the statement read. "Those are the values that unite this Union and allow it to protect women's sports while creating transformational change. Hate, abuse, and demonization of any person or group of people, including transgender people, only fuel fear, division, and harm. We will continue to have hard conversations. But we will not be used as political pawns."
