One rule governs this archive: a colorway counts as original only if it released at retail during that model’s first production run. Retros are out, player exclusives that never hit shelves are out, and where sources disagree on a year, the dispute is noted rather than smoothed over.

The one that started it, and the messiest to pin down. Sources put the original 1985 run anywhere from nine colorways to 23, and the metallic pack alone gets dated 1985 by some outlets and 1986 by others.

Bruce Kilgore took over from Peter Moore, moved production to Italy and stripped the Swoosh off the upper entirely. Four colorways total, two mids and two lows, at $100 and $95 respectively.

The shortest original run on this list. Three colorways carrying cross straps and chenille tongue logos, and then nothing new until the retros began in 2003.
