Stephen A. Smith and ESPN’s “First Take” has been called out for its coverage of the 2026 WNBA Finals.
For some reason, “First Take” didn’t cover Game 1 or Game 2 of the WNBA Finals. Fans thought it was incredibly disrespectful to the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries, especially since their series is setting viewership ratings for the league.
“ESPN and ‘First Take’ isn’t covering the WNBA Finals. Nicely done,” one fan wrote on X. “I bet if Caitlin Clark was playing they would be.”
“First Take showing a clear biased against the WNBA Finals,” a second fan declared. “It’s embarrassing.”
“What’s up with First Take not talking about the WNBA Finals or Angel Reese historical game 2??” another fan asked.
“NBA games & WNBA finals going on and they on First Take talking about the Cowboys. Smh,” another social media user said.

“First Take” has already responded to the criticism.
During this Thursday’s episode of “First Take,” Smith discussed the Dream’s Game 3 win over the Valkyries with WNBA analyst Chiney Ogwumike.
Ogwumike had high praise for Angel Reese, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds against the Valkyries on Wednesday night.
“The ‘A’ in Atlanta right now stands for Angel Reese. … She deserves her flowers,” Ogwumike said.
The WNBA Finals will resume on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET
