Dan Orlovsky is no dummy, especially when it comes to football. But the ex-QB seemed to just be learning what the word “percent” means at 43-years-old during a recent appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.”
Orlovsky is has made a brand of being very open about his likes, dislikes and all the different quirks in his life.
But even McAfee himself couldn’t believe it when the NFL analyst volunteered that he didn’t fully grasp what percent meant until very recently.

Dan Orlovsky admits he didn’t know what the word ‘percent’ meant
“Hand to God, true story. Do you guys know what percent, like the word percent, is derived from?” Orlovsky asked McAfee’s crew Monday. “How come it’s percent?”
“So [Paul Hembekides] this morning was like, ‘Joe Burrow, his sack rate is four percent.’ And I said, ‘Dumb this down for me. No human’s going to hear me say that and I’m going to make them smart,’” he added.
“And he goes, ‘Well, what do you mean?’ I said, ‘What does that actually mean?’ He goes, ‘Out of every 100 dropbacks, he’s getting sacked four times. And I said, ‘Is that really what it is? It’s always out of 100?’”
You would think one of football’s leading analysts would have a grasp on elementary school math concepts. But learning is a lifelong process, and shoutout to Dan for at least being open enough to admit it and have a good laugh at himself.
