ESPN's cameras caught in real time Caitlin Clark's reaction to Angel Reese's missed layup at the buzzer.
The Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream are facing off in quite the battle on Sunday night. The two teams traded blows throughout four quarters, with the game ultimately coming down to the wire. The Fever were unable to score a game-winning attempt, putting the ball in Atlanta's hands. However, the Dream were unable to get it done, too.
Reese, a three-time WNBA All-Star, missed a game-winning layup at the buzzer, as things went into overtime.
After Reese's missed layup, ESPN's cameras caught Clark in the background. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft could be seen smiling widely after Reese's missed layup attempt.
"Angel Reese misses a point blank put back for the win. Caitlin loved it," one fan joked.
Reese, Clark have quite the history
Reese and Clark have quite the history, dating back to their time in college. Reese, who starred collegiately for LSU, played against Clark, who was starring for the University of Iowa.
The two met up in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament national title game in 2023, which LSU won. They then met up again in 2024, when Iowa got it done against LSU in the NCAA Tournament.
Reese and Clark have had several big-time battles throughout their WNBA careers, too. Both are playing on squads hoping to make a deep playoff run. Indiana and Atlanta are both several games above .500 and are looking good with less than two months to go in the regular season.
Perhaps we'll get a fun Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese meetup in the WNBA Playoffs later this fall, too. The rivalry would certainly heat up if that happens, that's for sure.
