ESPN Legend Linda Cohn Has Problem With Netflix's NFL Promotion

Former “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn is a bit thrown off by Netflix’s promotional tactics for its Week 1 game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

In an effort to promote both its NFL coverage and its new reality TV series, “Earle Meets World,” Netflix has shared a video on social media of Alix and Ashtin Earle wearing 49ers and Rams uniforms.

Cohn, who worked at ESPN from 1992-2026, is confused as to why Netflix thought it was a good idea to use the Earle sisters as part of its NFL promotion.

“Is this ad supposed to get more women to watch the NFL?” Cohn wrote on X.

Make no mistake, Cohn isn’t the only person confused by Netflix’s recent promotion.

“My issue with this is there are so many amazing women who are influencers and content creators that actually love football. This route is just so disingenuous and only contributing to the mockery toward women who like sports,” one person said.

“All the ‘marketing toward women’ the NFL has done this offseason has been beyond misogynistic. such a bad look. ban domestic and sexual abusers, put more educated woman talking about the sport in front of cameras, do more dad- daughter events etc. that’s how to ACTUALLY make women invested/ welcomed in the sport,” another person wrote on X.

What to expect from Netflix’s NFL coverage.

Hall of Fame linebacker Luke Kuechly and Sports Emmy winner Noah Eagle will be on the call for the 49ers-Rams game next Thursday.

As for Netflix’s pregame show, fans can expect to hear analysis from former ESPN anchor Elle Duncan, Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin, Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles and former Pro Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews.

The 49ers-Rams game will kick off at 8:35 p.m. ET on Netflix.
