ESPN analyst Monica McNutt was not part of the network's coverage of Tuesday night's Indiana Fever game.
The Indiana Fever took on the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. The Fever continued to play well, taking down the Liberty, 106-92. Caitlin Clark's team improved to 21-12 on the year with the win.
McNutt, who has been critical of Clark, was reportedly not part of the WNBA Countdown show on ESPN. Fans noticed and took to social media. Clark supporters have not been the biggest fans of McNutt.
"Monica McNutt was missing from WNBA Countdown last night during the Indiana Fever game. Whoever made that decision… just know the people noticed. And we thank you. 😂🙏," one fan noted.
McNutt previously encouraged Clark to do a better job of being part of the "womanhood" of the WNBA. Over the weekend, she spoke out on Clark's technical fouls.
“All I’m saying is I have flashbacks to college when my teammate bumped into a coach like this, and it was a problem,” McNutt said on Sunday. “But I think when we analyze it, if Caitlin didn’t say anything, it is marginal, I think rescinding it was fine. But I do understand in the moment how we got here.”
Fans praise ESPN for leaving McNutt off coverage
Fans praised ESPN.
"No one missed her," one fan wrote.
"It was like Christmas in August," one fan added.
"Was great not having to listen to her spew utter nonsense!" another fan added.
"I thought that was conspicuous," one fan added.
"I finally watched it for the first time and it was good," one fan added.
It was probably just a scheduling decision, but Caitlin Clark's fans were sure to notice it on social media, that's for sure.
It'll be interesting to hear McNutt talk about Clark next time she's on air.
