The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-2 in the 2026 regular season, which isn't bad at all, but the signs recently are pointing toward things potentially falling apart.
Lane Johnson retired, Cam Jurgens was traded, and the offense has clearly taken a huge step backwards. With the way this team is trending, Nick Sirianni and the Eagles could very well miss the playoffs.
With the instability of the Eagles right now, following Week 4's loss to the Los Angeles Rams, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler revealed a hot-seat update on Sirianni, revealing the Eagles' head coach's job is very much up in the air.
Nick Sirianni's hot-seat job update reveals uncertain status with Eagles
"With Philly, it has been proved that if owner Jeffrey Lurie and GM Howie Roseman identify a problem on the field, they will find a solution," Fowler writes. "Sometimes that involves the head coach. Another up-and-down season would inevitably keep Sirianni's name in the league-wide conversation, despite him winning 70% of his games and having a Super Bowl ring. But this is Philly, where anything is possible."
By all normal accounts, someone like Sirianni should keep his job even if his team has a down season. But the Eagles are not afraid of cutting bait early.
They moved on from Doug Pederson not long after his Super Bowl title, and could do the same with Sirianni. This team is incredibly talented, so a down year would be a lot worse for this team than anything else.

Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie have a knack for making aggressive changes when needed. They recently traded Cam Jurgens away despite the offensive line's struggles.
Firing Sirianni would not be a huge surprise. While Fowler doesn't specifically mention that he's firmly on the hot seat, it's more because of the Eagles' willingness to make an aggressive change that could lead to a coaching change.
If this season continues to spiral out of control, Sirianni might finally be on his way out after years of speculation. But it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they turned things around in the middle of the season and were legitimate contenders once again.
There are a lot of ways this 2026 season for the Eagles could go. For Sirianni, his job status is very much in flux, just as the possible outcomes for the 2026 Eagles' season are.
