We're just 72 hours away from the final college football game of the season with Indiana taking on Miami for the national championship. College GameDay will be leading the pregame content and ESPN will be bringing on a special guest for the occasion.

While it remains to be seen who the special guest picker (if there is one) will be, ESPN has announced that Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman will be serving as a guest analyst on the broadcast. The showrunners clearly have a sense of humor as Notre Dame fans have major gripes with both schools.

"Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman will be joining GameDay as a guest analyst for the national championship," the show announced on Friday.

Freeman's Fighting Irish were infamously snubbed by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, who chose to put in Miami over them. Last year, the team clobbered Indiana, making them the most recent team to deliver any sort of loss to the Hoosiers.

In the aftermath of this year's snub, Freeman and his players declined an offer to play in a college football bowl game.

Making it to the game

Well, Notre Dame wanted to be in the national championship game. Now they're getting their wish. Fans certainly made sure to drive that point across on social media:

"Well, there ya go.... ND will make it to the NC game after all," one user joked on X.

"oh yeah, this will be great analysis, looking forward to the cutting edge talking points from this bowl game dodger," another mocked.

"You know he's gonna pull a Manziel and opt out," a third joked.

The past month has seen Notre Dame largely decried as "crybabies" for throwing a temper tantrum over their CFP snub. Nevertheless, Freeman himself remains one of the most popular coaches in America. He's been tipped for seemingly every NFL job under the sun and it feels like a matter of time before he either delivers a national title to South Bend or finally relents and goes to the pros.

That being said, don't be surprised if someone (probably Pat McAfee) tries to get in a few jabs at Notre Dame's reaction to their snub.
