England will play two friendly matches at Wembley Stadium this week to prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
Today, England will host Uruguay at Wembley Stadium, and it will be the first time they have played each other since the 2014 World Cup.
In the 2014 World Cup, England and Uruguay were in Group D, with England finishing fourth with one point and Uruguay finishing second with six points. Uruguay defeated England 2-1 with a brace from Luis Suarez.
Both teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup through their respective World Cup qualifiers. England topped their UEFA World Cup qualifier group with a perfect record of eight wins from eight games.
England's previous match was a 2-0 win over Albania, courtesy of two goals from Harry Kane.
Uruguay finished 4th in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers and earned a direct spot to the 2026 World Cup. Since qualifying, Uruguay has played four friendly matches.
Their previous friendly match was against the United States, the USMNT, and they lost 5-1 at the Raymond James Stadium.
