Embarrassing: Caitlin Clark Doesn't Hold Back on Indiana Fever Despite Historic Game

The Indiana Fever beat the Seattle Storm 110-107 on Friday behind a historic performance from Caitlin Clark. The All-Star guard finished with a career-high and franchise-record 45 points, along with 10 assists, four steals and two blocks.

Clark was the first WNBA player ever to have a 40-point, 10-assist game. According to the league, she also became the fastest player to reach 200 career 3-pointers after going 6-of-10 from deep in the contest.

While it was a remarkable showing of grit and tenacity from the Fever, Clark admitted that they were far from perfect.

It's worth noting that the Fever led by as many as 17 points in the first half. However, they found themselves behind by eight points midway through the fourth quarter before staging an epic comeback.

The Fever have now allowed an opponent to score more than 100 points for the ninth time this season, and it nearly cost them the game once again. Prior to the contest, Indiana was 7-1 in games in which opponents scored more than 100 points.

According to Clark, their defensive showing against the Storm was "embarrassing."

"It was kind of an embarrassing performance on the defensive end, I'll be honest," Clark said in her postgame interview. "We really got to find a way to be better. I think we can simplify a little bit, make it easier on ourselves."

Caitlin Clark Doesn't Care About Historic Game, Focuses on Fever

Clark was also asked about her historic game, but she played it down and mentioned that she really doesn't care about it. She pointed out that it's her "job" to help the Fever win and become the "best team in the WNBA."

Nonetheless, Clark acknowledged that they are still far from the level they want to be at.

"I know what I'm capable of, and I know what this team is capable of, and it's my job to help us win and be the best team in the WNBA, and I don't think we're there yet, so it's my responsibility to help us get there, so we'll keep working."

While Clark said that she's still "proud" of how they were able to beat the Storm, it was not enough to satisfy her with the team's current situation.
