With his nephew Arch Manning perhaps just six months away from being drafted into the NFL, former New York Giants QB Eli Manning has a preferred spot for him to go. It’s a New York team, but not HIS New York team.
Appearing on Pardon My Take, Manning said that he wouldn’t mind seeing Arch go to the New York Jets. He admitted that it’s for “purely selfish reasons” though.
“For purely selfish reasons I wouldn’t mind if he went to the Jets,” Manning said.
Fans Want Better for Arch
Eli’s remark didn’t sit well with NFL fans who feel that Arch’s career would be ruined by going to the Jets like nearly every other quarterback that has played for them over the past 50 years.
“If Arch didnt have Manning on the back of his jersey, he goes late 4th round and is a career backup. But knowing the Jets, they will take him and make the franchise suffer another QB development failure,” one user on X wrote.
“Oh no please, please don’t ruin Arch Manning’s NFL career,” wrote another.
“The last time a Manning had anything to do with the Jets it was Peyton telling Woody to hire Adam Gase,” a third pointed out.

The Mannings were pretty much the bane of the Jets’ existence in the 2000s and early-2010s.
Peyton Manning thwarted them multiple times in the regular season and kept them from reaching the Super Bowl in 2009.
Two years later, Eli Manning led the Giants to a dominating win over the Jets in the regular season that effectively knocked them out of the playoffs and began their 15-year playoff drought.
And finally in 2019 it was Peyton who again hexed the Jets by personally recommending Adam Gase as a head coaching candidate to the team. Gase would go on to 9-23 in two years with the team.
Suffice it to say, many Jets fans are rather leery of any “advice” that the Manning family has for them these days.
