The Mannings are royalty at Ole Miss with both patriarch Archie Manning and his son Eli Manning both being stars for the program. Unfortunately for the Rebels, team legend Eli Manning will be rooting against them when they take on his nephew Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns later this month.
Appearing on Pardon My Take, Manning stated point-blank that he’s rooting for Texas against Ole Miss on October 24. Manning said that he will root for Ole Miss to win every game except this one.
“I root for Ole Miss to win every other game probably besides that one,” Manning said.
Family over School
Eli isn’t the first member of his family to do that. His older brother Peyton Manning – a Tennessee Volunteers legend – has also stated that he roots for Texas and his nephew Arch over his own alma mater.
So fans on X weren’t exactly surprised to see Eli going with family over alma maters:
“Shocking revelation that he values his family more than a place he went to school,” one user said.
“I’d do the exact same thing for my family,” an Ole Miss fan wrote.
“I’d root for my family as well. This is not news,” wrote another.

“I agree! Family first.”
“You have to respect both him and Peyton choosing family when Arch plays against their schools.”
Right now Manning is leading the best team in the country and is about to take on arch-rival Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry game this weekend. After that, a game against Florida awaits for their first home game in nearly a month.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, has a winnable game against Vanderbilt this weekend followed by a home game against a surging Missouri team before that fateful game against Texas.
