NFL legend Edgerrin James shared a concerning update about his son, Jizzle James.
Recently dismissed from Charlotte’s basketball team, Jizzle James posted a letter from Cincinnati telling him not to use the program’s name, image, and likeness. Edgerrin James offered a heartbreaking development on Tuesday, urging support for his 21-year-old son as he faces issues with substance abuse.
“Jizzle is dealing with substance abuse and is NOT in the right state of mind right now,” James wrote on his Instagram Story. “If you see him, show him LOVE-but DO NOT give him money, valuables, or anything material.
“You’re not helping him by feeding the problem. He wants/needs for NOTHING. Give him a hug. Give him encouragement. Give him love. THAT’S IT. Be patient with him. We’re fighting for him, not against him.”

Jizzle James averaged 10.8 points per game in three seasons at Cincinnati before following head coach Wes Miller to Charlotte. Miller said in August that he dismissed James from the team due to personal issues.
James hinted at a return to Cincinnati on social media, but the school sent him a cease-and-desist letter.
“As you are no longer a member of the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball program, you are no longer authorized to use, represent, or commercially promote the University of Cincinnati basketball program, including the use of the University’s name, logos, uniforms, jerseys, or other team-related likenesses,” the letter read. “Any sale, advertisement, or distribution of University of Cincinnati basketball jerseys or merchandise representing you as a current player is strictly prohibited.”
He responded by posting the letter on Instagram and commenting, “I have my own merch I made. I don’t need y’all jerseys, and f*** Cincinnati for all I care.”
