Just when you thought this NFL offseason couldn’t get any stranger, San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York got himself arrested at a trailer park on allegations that he tried to pay $140 to a sex worker.
York’s arrest occurred at the Wheat Hill trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio as part of a reported sting operation. But according to the owner of Wheat Hill, the community was not being used for the sting operation. The owner said on Facebook that York just happened to pull into the trailer park by a coincidence but that it was not the address being used by police in the investigation.
“I just got off the phone with the Chief of Police for East Palestine, Chief Weingart. According to the chief, Jed York was arrested in the park because that’s where he happened to pull over,” the owner said, via the New York Post.
“They were not using addresses in the park as part of their sting operation.
“This news of this arrest in our quiet community is just as shocking to us, as to the rest of you. While we support law enforcement in their efforts. We really have no other knowledge of the situation.”
That hasn’t stopped the Ohio village from being raked over the coals and mocked across social media. The mockery probably won’t stop either since the scandal is so outrageous.
York’s Arrest
York was arrested on Sunday, August 23 during a prostitution sting conducted by local police with assistance from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
According to court records, York allegedly responded to an online advertisement and arranged to pay $140 for sexual activity before arriving at a mobile-home community, where he was taken into custody. He was initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools, with his cellphone considered the “criminal tool” because it was used to arrange the encounter. York posted $5,000 bail and was released.

The case was resolved the following day when York pleaded no contest to amended misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. He was sentenced to one day in jail on each charge, served concurrently and credited as time served, and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines; the $160 seized during his arrest was also forfeited to the human-trafficking task force.
The 49ers said the legal matter had been resolved and declined further comment, while the NFL said it was aware of the arrest and would review it under the league’s personal-conduct policy. York has been the 49ers’ principal owner since 2024 and served as the CEO of the team since 2008. He is also a board member of the Premier League’s Leeds United F.C.
