Philadelphia sports fans can't seem to catch a break this year.
Devan Kaney has become quite popular due to her constant coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only is she a host and reporter for 94WIP-FM Sports Radio, she's a weekend sports anchor for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
Unfortunately, Kaney was let go by 94WIP-FM layoffs during the latest round of layoffs from parent company Audacy. She'll no longer get to host WIP's morning show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie.
"I had a blast working at WIP and sincerely enjoyed my time there," Kaney said, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. "But as the old saying goes, when one door closes, another opens."
As you'd imagine, Kaney's fans aren't thrilled about this week's news.
"Such an awful decision," one fan declared.
"Fire her and keep Decamera and Richey? What. A. Joke," another fan commented.
On the bright side, Kaney will remain an anchor and reporter for FOX 29 Philadelphia. It's unclear if her role with the network will expand between now and the start of the 2026 NFL season.
She's not the only Philly reporter who shared bad news.
Prior to the start of the 2026 MLB season, Taryn Hatcher revealed that her role with NBC Sports Philadelphia was eliminated. She was with the network for seven years.
“Cat’s out of the bag, so I’ll keep this short and sweet as possible. Sadly I won’t be returning on Phillies coverage this season. At the conclusion of the 2025 season, I was told that my role on the sidelines at NBCSP was being eliminated moving forward,” Hatcher wrote. “While the news was pretty heartbreaking, I have to acknowledge that it was a really fun run. I loved every second of it. I’m grateful for everyone who tuned in over the years and for the wonderful people I’ve met along the way.”
Hatcher is now a reporter for The CW’s coverage of the Professional Bowlers Association. She made her debut earlier this month at the Illinois Classic.
