The Philadelphia Eagles opened Week 6 preparations with a lengthy injury report, but the biggest updates involved running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Barkley did not practice Wednesday because of a hamstring injury, while Hurts was a full participant despite being listed with a calf issue. Their different statuses matter as Philadelphia prepares to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Barkley has missed time with the hamstring problem, and his continued absence leaves Philadelphia short on healthy backfield options. Will Shipley also missed practice with a foot injury, while Tank Bigsby remains on injured reserve.
Barkley’s progress is worth watching throughout the week. His return would give head coach Nick Sirianni a proven lead runner and reduce pressure on the remaining backs against Carolina.
Hurts’ full participation provides a more encouraging sign. The quarterback’s calf remains listed, but Wednesday’s report shows no practice limitation. His status could change, making the next updates important.
Philadelphia’s injury list extended beyond its backfield. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith did not practice with hamstring and toe issues, while defensive back Michael Carter II, linebacker Jalyx Hunt and center Drew Kendall were also sidelined.
Several others were limited, including guard Landon Dickerson, linebacker Jonathan Greenard and receiver Marquise Brown. Four players on injured reserve, including Dickerson, had their practice windows opened, giving them a chance to work toward returning.

Philadelphia enters the week after a 19-17 loss to Jacksonville and now faces a Panthers team coming off its bye. The Eagles need a sharper performance, but first must determine which injured players can contribute.
Wednesday’s report does not determine Sunday’s active roster. Barkley’s hamstring remains the central concern, while Hurts’ full participation is a positive early development. Later updates this week should clarify whether Philadelphia can get more key players back on the field.
