Saquon Barkley is expected to return to practice Thursday and is in line to play Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The Philadelphia Eagles running back has missed the team’s last two games with a hamstring injury.
Barkley’s potential return comes as Philadelphia looks to end a four-game losing streak. The Eagles have struggled to move the ball consistently without their leading running back available.
Garafolo reported that Barkley is expected to practice Thursday, citing sources familiar with the situation. He also noted that the Eagles have a banged-up backfield and quarterback Jalen Hurts is dealing with a separate health issue.
Barkley suffered the hamstring injury during Philadelphia’s Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He has recorded 182 rushing yards on 36 carries this season, averaging 5.1 yards per attempt, with no rushing touchdowns. His return would give the Eagles their primary ball-carrier back for a divisional matchup.

The Eagles have also dealt with injuries to other running backs, leaving them short on options in the backfield. Barkley’s availability would help stabilize the position, although his practice participation later in the week will provide a clearer picture of his readiness.
Philadelphia enters the matchup at 2-4, tied with Dallas for second place in the NFC East. The New York Giants lead the division at 3-2-1, making Monday’s game an opportunity for either team to improve its position in the standings.
The Cowboys also enter the contest at 2-4, setting up an important divisional meeting for both teams. Barkley is expected to play, but his final availability will depend on how he progresses through practice ahead of Monday night.
