For Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles, the 2025 NFL season ended earlier than planned.

Having failed to achieve the same standards seen in 2024’s Super Bowl-winning season by going 11-6 in the regular season and suffering NFC wild-card playoff elimination at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, the franchise now stands in the midst of a coaching overhaul.

Kevin Patullo was relieved of his offensive coordinator duties almost immediately after the Eagles exited the playoffs, replaced by ex-Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and assistant linebackers coach Ronell William also parted ways with Sirianni’s team.

Meanwhile, Parks Frazier has been welcomed as quarterbacks coach this offseason, and former Notre Dame Fighting Irish strength and conditioning coach Fred Hale enters Lincoln Financial Field to oversee a similar fitness-focused role.

But as this wave of coaching change blankets the locker room, one familiar face has announced his intention to return in 2026.

Speaking to Eagles reporter Jeff McLane, veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson confirmed that he will play his 14th consecutive year of football for the Philadelphia Eagles next season.

Rumors suggested that Johnson may opt to hang up his cleats after an injury-laden 2025 and the recent departure of Stoutland. Yet, the 35-year-old has opted to stay put for at least one more year and collaborate with offensive line coach Chris Kuper, who replaced Stoutland on Feb. 9.

Johnson, who joined Philadelphia as pick No. 4 during the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, has played 168 regular-season games and 15 in the postseason – with 11 of his 13 seasons featuring 10 appearances.

Notable highlights include two victories in three Super Bowl appearances (2018, 2025), five All-Pro honors and six Pro Bowl selections, proving the experienced tackle’s consistent quality across more than a decade of competitive action.

In 2021, Johnson scored his first and only NFL touchdown in a 34-10 blowout of the New York Giants. It remains his sole reception.

For 2026, the right tackle will seek to protect quarterback Jalen Hurts for a sixth consecutive year, as the Eagles vie for a fourth Super Bowl appearance since 2017.

Attention now turns to free agency and the NFL draft, where the Eagles may look to onboard a long-term replacement for Johnson beyond 2027.
