The Philadelphia Eagles may have to turn to a familiar NFC East name after a pair of injuries created a major problem in their backfield.
Saquon Barkley is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury, while Tank Bigsby was placed on injured reserve after undergoing core muscle surgery.
That leaves Philadelphia facing an important roster decision before its Week 5 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
One option is Jaydon Blue, the former Dallas Cowboys draft pick who is currently on Philadelphia’s practice squad. Blue was selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas before joining the Eagles after being waived during roster cuts.
Blue saw limited action as a rookie, recording 38 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown. His speed could give Philadelphia a different dimension if the Eagles decide to elevate him.
Will Shipley is currently the only healthy running back on Philadelphia’s active roster, increasing the urgency of the situation. The Eagles also have Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele available on the practice squad.

The timing is particularly difficult for Philadelphia after the team lost 24-20 to the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles are already dealing with injuries elsewhere on offense, including absences involving DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown and Dallas Goedert.
Philadelphia now has little room for error with a trip to London approaching. The Eagles will have to decide whether Blue’s explosiveness is worth giving the former Cowboy an opportunity or whether another option makes more sense for the depleted backfield.
