The Philadelphia Eagles offensive unit has been crushed by injuries. They will spend the rest of the year without their starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Saquon Barkley is expected to return this week, but he has also missed time. And their third most important player on the offense, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, has also been banged up this year.
Smith played during the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers and was productive, hauling in seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. However, it was clear that he was playing through the same hamstring injury that forced him to miss two games in a row prior to Week 6.

Smith is clearly not past the issue. He missed his second straight practice on Friday, which officially puts his status in doubt for Monday Night Football’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. He still has a couple of days to recover, but it is not a good sign.
To make matters worse, Smith is not the only one dealing with an injury. Dontayvion Wicks has also been a strong player this year for the Eagles with 19 catches for 284 yards and a touchdown in his first year in midnight green.
However, during Week 6 against Carolina, he too suffered a setback, an ankle injury to be specific. On Friday, Wicks also missed practice just like Smith, which certainly puts his status in doubt as well.
If both Smith and Wicks are out, this Eagles offense is going to be in trouble, even against a weak Dallas defense. Another loss for the Eagles will make their already slim postseason chances even worse as they look to avoid a fifth straight loss.
