The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into the offseason with a goal to stay competitive while juggling one of the most expensive and talented rosters in the league. But as free agency approaches, one of the franchise’s most important offensive players has become the center of growing trade speculation.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown has been the subject of league-wide interest in recent weeks. Teams have reportedly approached the Eagles about a potential deal, though Philadelphia has made it clear that moving the three-time Pro Bowler would require an extraordinary return. With the new league year approaching, the situation has become one of the most closely watched storylines around the NFL.

The Eagles' position became even clearer following a recent report from the NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo. He shared that the team is setting Brown's trade expectations at a level similar to the deal that sent a $96 million defensive star earlier this season.

Garafolo explained the situation during an appearance on "Good Morning Football", noting that teams have already submitted offers, but none have reached Philadelphia’s asking price.

“My understanding is teams are making offers to the Eagles for a trade,” Garafolo said. “And to this point, they have not gotten to the point at which the Eagles would make the move. In their mind, it’s a Quinnen Williams-type deal. We’re talking a potential first-round pick with a second-round sweetener.”

The reference is significant. Last season, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who signed a $96 million extension earlier in his career, was traded from the New York Jets to the Dallas Cowboys in a blockbuster package that included a future first-round pick, a second-round pick, and defensive lineman Mazi Smith

Philadelphia appears to be using that trade as a benchmark for discussions involving Brown.

The Eagles’ position reflects the value Brown has brought to the franchise. In 2025, the veteran receiver caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns, keeping up a streak of solid performance that has made him one of the most dependable No. 1 targets in the league. Over seven seasons, Brown has earned three Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro recognition while establishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier wideouts.

Despite the speculation, the Eagles are not believed to be actively seeking a trade. General manager Howie Roseman has repeatedly emphasized that the team prefers adding elite players rather than subtracting them. If another team fails to meet the high asking price, Brown could remain a centerpiece of Philadelphia’s offense.

Garafolo also noted that Brown is “highly valued inside that building,” which makes the situation more about listening to offers than pushing for a move.

Still, the uncertainty has begun to influence the Eagles’ broader offseason planning. Brown is scheduled to earn $29 million in 2026, and the financial commitment tied to his contract has reportedly complicated discussions with other pending free agents, including tight end Dallas Goedert.

For now, the Eagles remain in a waiting pattern. Teams continue to explore the possibility of acquiring Brown, but Philadelphia appears comfortable holding its ground. If a blockbuster offer emerges, the conversation could change quickly.

Otherwise, the Eagles may simply move forward with one of the league’s most productive receivers still leading their offense into another playoff push.
