Drake Maye and the New England Patriots didn't have the ending to the 2025 NFL season they were hoping for. After securing a 14-3 regular-season record and the No. 2 seed in the AFC, the Patriots advanced all the way to Super Bowl LX. But they couldn't get past Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks in the big game, suffering a 29-13 loss.
Still, Maye was one of the better quarterbacks in his second year in the NFL. The former North Carolina star had an MVP-caliber season, completing 354-of-492 passes for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions, adding another 450 yards and four scores on the ground. But just like with the Super Bowl, Maye fell short of the MVP award, which went to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Throughout his short NFL career, Maye has shared his personal life with his wife, Ann Michael. The two met at Bailey Middle School in North Carolina and have been together ever since. Following his rookie year in 2024, Maye proposed to Ann Michael in January 2025, and the couple married just a few months later in June. And as Maye prepares for his third NFL season, the pair had some exciting news to share.
On Friday, Maye and Ann Michael took to Instagram to announce the launch of their new foundation, the MayeDay Family Foundation. The foundation aims to "provide children and families enduring hardship with the assistance and support needed to achieve a brighter future." The couple has also partnered with Boston Children's Hospital, making a three-year commitment to fund a Child Life Therapist.
“Ann Michael and I are excited to launch the MayeDay Family Foundation to give back to the communities that have so strongly supported us,” Maye said. “It’s important for us to provide help for kids and families in need and we are looking forward to partnering with great organizations in New England and back home in North Carolina.”
Along with the launch of the MayeDay Family Foundation, the organization will also host the inaugural MayeDay Family Foundation Celebrity Softball Classic. The event will take place on Sunday, May 31, at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts.
"@drake.maye and @annmichaelhmaye are proud to launch the MayeDay Family Foundation to provide children and families enduring hardship with the assistance and support needed to achieve a brighter future," MayeDay Foundation wrote on Instagram. "The foundation will support various programs and initiatives in New England and the couple’s home state of North Carolina...
"One of those organizations is @bostonchildrens, as the MayeDay Family Foundation is making a three-year commitment to fund a Child Life Therapist for the oncology floor to support each child and family’s emotional, social, cognitive and developmental needs through modalities like play, music, creative arts and technology."
As Maye looks ahead to his third NFL season, his impact is already being felt far beyond the field.
