Drake Maye Showed Great Character After Super Bowl 60 Loss

Drake Maye was not good this postseason.

The New England Patriots quarterback played great in the regular season, garnering some major MVP consideration, but he fell flat in the playoffs. Maye struggled in wins against the Chargers, Texans and Broncos, before getting rocked by Seattle's defense in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday night.

Maye made it clear following Sunday night's 29-13 loss that he would like to re-do just about everything.

"What would I like to have back? I’d like to go back to the beginning and redo it," he said.

"There’s so many plays that can decide and change the game. I think, what was it? 19-7 or 22-7, and I have the fumble or whatever, and they returned it for a touchdown. There were plays in the first half where I felt like I could’ve made a better throw, or made a better decision and really just comes to who makes the plays and who doesn’t.

"They made the plays tonight."

Maye, though, deserves credit for one thing: showing up and speaking to the media following the loss.

Not everyone is willing to do that following a loss. Maye's left tackle, Will Campbell, refused to speak with reporters following the loss.

But Maye showed good leadership and good character in the moments following the Super Bowl 60 loss.

Maye faces the music after the loss

It's not easy to sit there and face the music when you lose in such crushing fashion, but Maye did that.

He's only finishing up his second year in the league, but it's clear that he'll be a good leader for the Patriots moving forward.

The question, of course, is if he can be a good enough quarterback to lead the Patriots to a Super Bowl win. That remains to be seen.
