Dominik Mysterio has revealed what Rey Mysterio would have to do for him to consider their family feud over. The WWE star discussed his complicated relationship with his father while speaking with Escorpión Dorado, and his idea of reconciliation involves much more than simply making peace.
The Judgment Day member was also asked about his sister Aalyah, who recently signed with WWE and joined the Performance Center’s new rookie class. She is following the same path as her father and brother, although Dominik said he would want the family to come together without Rey being part of it.
The relationship between Rey and Dominik has been strained since Dominik turned against his father at Clash at the Castle in 2022. Before the split, they had already made WWE history by becoming the first father-son team to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
Their rivalry eventually became personal enough to reach WrestleMania 39. Dominik spent months disrespecting “The Master of 619” before the two finally met in singles competition, but Rey walked away with the victory after a match that also involved members of the Mysterio family.
Dominik and Rey crossed paths again at WrestleMania XL, where the Hall of Famer teamed with Andrade to defeat Dominik and Santos Escobar. They later faced each other in singles competition on RAW in August 2024, with Rey picking up another win over his son.
When asked what Rey Mysterio would have to do for the two to reunite, Dominik made it clear that an apology would not be enough. He wants his father to surrender the identity that has defined Rey’s career.
“To forgive him, I need him on his knees. In the middle of the ring. He needs to take off the mask. He needs to retire and hand the mask over to me.”
Dominik then went further, saying he wanted more than Rey’s mask.
“And not just that, I want the name Rey Mysterio, too. The mask, too. Everything. I want the bastard naked, even.” (quotes translated from Spanish via Google Translate)

The family rivalry has also carried over into AAA, where Rey was named the promotion’s new General Manager in May. Dominik was visibly unhappy with the appointment and has remained involved in AAA’s ongoing storylines, giving the father-son conflict another setting outside WWE.
Rey and Dominik’s AAA story recently produced another chapter at TripleMania 34. Dominik competed for the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano on the second night of the event after Rey had been involved in the previous night’s events. The Hall of Famer later counted the pinfall when Grande Americano defeated Dominik, adding another layer to their already complicated relationship.
Rey has also spoken about his son’s demands before. Earlier this year, he said he would welcome the opportunity to put something meaningful on the line against Dominik, suggesting that their next confrontation could involve more than simply winning a match.
For now, Rey Mysterio continues working in both WWE and AAA while Dominik builds his own career across the two promotions. With Aalyah now beginning her own training, the Mysterio family’s wrestling story is expanding again, but Dominik’s latest comments make it clear that he still sees his father as the person standing between him and the legacy he wants to claim.
