Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio has revealed that Rey Mysterio deliberately kept Brock Lesnar’s identity a secret before the former WWE Champion attacked him on RAW in 2019. Dominik knew he was going to be involved in the segment and would get beaten up, but he had no idea Lesnar would be the one waiting for him.
Speaking on the “Six Feet Under podcast,” Dominik recalled that he was 21 years old when the segment took place. He explained that “the Master of 619” warned him beforehand that he was about to get beaten up but intentionally refused to tell him Brock Lesnar would be the one delivering the punishment. It wasn’t until Rey was already in the ring cutting his promo that Brock’s music hit, leaving Dominik to realize what was about to happen.
“So actually, funny story again. My dad, not being a good dad, leading up to that, he was like, ‘You’re gonna get your (expletive) beat.’ and I was like, ‘Oh, cool, by who?’ He’s like, ‘I’m not gonna tell you. I’m not gonna tell you until I’m cutting my promo out there.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, fine, sure, whatever.’ And then sure enough, my dad goes out, and then Brock’s music hits. And I pucker. I didn’t know it was gonna happen.”
Dominik then described how different it was when Lesnar actually got his hands on him.
“He just did what he did, and it was an absolutely completely different beast with him…. He ragdolled me. I’ve been through some (expletive). Ragdolled me, and then me in the post, body slammed me on the ground.”
Dominik had already received wrestling training at that point, but his first official WWE match would not come until the following year against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020.
“I was already trained at that time, but I didn’t have my first match until Seth (Rollins) in SummerSlam 2020….. I was told to sit down and then he (Lesnar) would do the rest. And he clearly does.”

The September 30, 2019, attack ended with “The Beast Incarnate” standing tall after assaulting both Rey and his son, while Dominik was stretchered out following the beating.

Dominik’s relationship with Rey has changed dramatically since that night. After making his in-ring debut in 2020, he eventually turned against his father and joined The Judgment Day in 2022, setting up one of WWE’s most personal family rivalries.
That rivalry remains part of Dominik’s current WWE story. On the October 5 episode of RAW, Dominik and JD McDonagh defeated Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee after Big Cass interfered and distracted Rey, allowing McDonagh to score the deciding pinfall.
Dominik has also continued targeting Rey through AAA, where the two have been involved in separate developments surrounding Rey’s role as general manager and the AAA Mega Championship. On October 2, Dominik teamed with Omos to defeat Rey and El Grande Americano.
The relationship between father and son has therefore come a long way from Dominik sitting at ringside in 2019, unaware that Brock Lesnar was about to attack him. Today, their conflict remains one of the defining parts of Dirty Dom’s WWE character.
