The Los Angeles Dodgers have continued to establish themselves as the team to beat in the National League. Entering Saturday’s matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers maintain the top record in all of baseball, holding an outstanding 61-34 record.
Despite dealing with significant injuries throughout their pitching staff, the two-time defending World Series champions continue to boast one of baseball’s best rotations. Continuing the success of his 2025 season, Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned a second consecutive All-Star selection this season. The 27-year-old right-hander finished third in NL Cy Young voting last season and has anchored the Dodgers' rotation this season while the club navigates injuries to key starters such as Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell.

While Yamamoto was selected to represent the National League in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed he will not pitch in Philadelphia’s Midsummer Classic.
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Roberts said Yamamoto will still take part in the All-Star festivities in Philadelphia, but he will not play in the game itself. This marks the second consecutive season that Yamamoto has been named an All-Star but will not pitch in the game.
“Dave Roberts confirms Yoshinobu Yamamoto will not pitch in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. Yamamoto will still attend the festivities in Philadelphia,” Woo shared on X.
Yamamoto has established himself as one of the best starters in baseball, and in 16 starts this season, he owns a 9-5 record with a 2.49 ERA and 100 strikeouts across 104.2 innings pitched. Yamamoto is also second in the MLB with a 0.88 WHIP, behind only Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewers.
With Los Angeles focused on maintaining the health of its rotation, preserving Yamamoto's workload for the second half of the season takes priority over an appearance in the All-Star Game.
