Tyler Glasnow remains one of the best pitchers in baseball, yet he continues to be overshadowed within the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation simply because of how talented the rest of the staff is. After all, Los Angeles has one of the strongest starting groups in the league.

Through his first six starts, Glasnow is undefeated with a 3-0 record and a 2.56 ERA. His strikeout numbers remain elite, with 47 punchouts across 38 2/3 innings.

Now in the third year of his five-year, $136.5 million extension, signed after arriving from the Tampa Bay Rays before the 2024 season, Glasnow has consistently provided the value the Dodgers hoped for when he is on the mound.

The problem, as always, has been staying healthy for the 32-year-old veteran. On Wednesday, he suffered another setback after leaving his start against the Houston Astros.

Glasnow’s outing began shakily as he allowed a lead-off home run, but he immediately bounced back by striking out the next hitter, the 1,000th strikeout of his career.

There was no time to celebrate, though. As he warmed up for the second inning, trainers visited the mound, and Glasnow was unexpectedly removed from the game. There was no clear visual sign of injury. Left-hander Jack Dreyer entered in relief.

Moments later, the Dodgers announced the reason for Glasnow’s early exit.

“Tyler Glasnow left the game with low back pain,” the team wrote on X.

For a pitcher with Glasnow’s injury history, any setback is concerning, and the Dodgers will now wait to see how serious this latest issue becomes.

Glasnow has made just 47 total starts during his tenure in Los Angeles. He has frequently spent months on the injured list. The Dodgers will hope that is not the case here.
