DiJonai Carrington has made it clear that every time she steps on the court with Caitlin Clark, she’s going to try to make it a battle.
The longtime WNBA guard has had several heated moments with Clark over the years, from her time with the Connecticut Sun to her time with the Chicago Sky. For the most part, though, Clark has always gotten the better of her.
The Indiana Fever blew out the Chicago Sky, 113-90, on Sunday evening. Clark, guarded by Carrington for much of the game, had one of the best showings of her young WNBA career. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft had 37 points and 10 assists. The Fever improved to an impressive 25-14.

Earlier this year, Carrington was ejected in a Sky vs. Fever game. She hit Sophie Cunningham hard in the head area, leading to a Flagrant 2 foul and a subsequent ejection back on August 8. Immediatlyl after her ejection, she posted “8/23” on her X account and claimed “white privilege” on a separate post on Threads.
The Sky were set to take on the Fever in a follow-up game on August 23, or 8/23.
Carrington’s post ages terribly
August 23 came and went and Clark, unsurprisingly, got the better of Carrington in a nationally-televised game.
Clark had 37 points and 10 assists while dominating Carrington and the Sky in Chicago on Sunday night.
Carrington, meanwhile, shot 3 for 11 from the field and finished with 7 points, three rebounds and one assist.
Carrington is obviously trying to make this a rivalry with Clark, but it feels more like LeBron James vs. DeShawn Stevenson, than Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird.
That doesn’t mean Carrington is a bad player, but Clark is clearly just on another level.
