DiJonai Carrington and the Chicago Sky saw their 2026 WNBA season come to an end after the regular season, finishing the year with a 16-28 record and 11th in the league standings. Now, Carrington sees her one-year, $650,000 contract with the Sky expire going into the offseason, becoming an unrestricted free agent.
Carrington was forced to miss a majority of the season after suffering a foot sprain in the 2025 playoffs with the Minnesota Lynx. Offseason surgery forced the former Baylor guard to miss the first half of the season, making her Chicago debut on July 30. But after playing in just 11 games, her foot issue flared up, and Carrington was ruled out for the final few games.
Still, Carrington made the most of her 11 games with the Sky, averaging 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game off the bench.

To begin her offseason, Carrington, like many other WNBA players, has been keeping track of the 2026 WNBA Finals between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries. And the Dream were able to take a 2-1 series lead after taking down the Valkyries 97-71 in Game 3.
Carrington was able to watch Game 3 between Atlanta and Golden State, which was available on USA Network, CNBC and Peacock. And during the WNBA Finals, NBC has implemented an overhead camera angle, which offers fans a unique bird’s-eye view of the game directly over the court.
While some WNBA fans may have enjoyed the camera angle, Carrington certainly did not, requesting that they stop showing the overhead angle.
“They gotta stop showin that overhead angle 😩😩😩 ts gives me a headache & I be lost,” Carrington wrote on Threads.
Game 4 of the WNBA Finals between the Dream and the Valkyries will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
