There is no love lost between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky. These two teams renewed their rivalry on Sunday as they faced off inside Chicago’s Wintrust Arena.
Caitlin Clark and DiJonai Carrington got into it in the second quarter as the Sky guard was whistled for a defensive foul on the Indiana superstar. Carrington was called for a foul after bumping Clark as the latter dribbled the ball near the top of the key.
Carrington wasn’t pleased with the call, and she started mocking Clark by acting out a flop gesture twice. Clark also appeared to have some words for the feisty Chicago star as Carrington approached the ref to complain about the foul call.
For context, Carrington drew major backlash from Fever fans when these two teams last played on Aug. 8. This was after Carrington was ejected in the first quarter for a Flagrant 2 foul on Sophie Cunningham.
Things did not escalate on Sunday following the Carrington-Clark exchange in the second quarter. However, Clark responded minutes later by hitting a step-back three-pointer over the outstretched arms of Carrington.
Carrington then bumped into Clark as the two headed back down the opposite side of the court. Clark appeared to wave off the Sky veteran after the contact.
It has been a back-and-forth affair in Chicago thus far. The Sky entered halftime with a 51-50 lead. Clark led all scorers with 18 points, to go along with two rebounds, six assists and three triples.
